The team behind Ceeryo

Ceeryo is built by a small team focused on a single problem: turning a finished manuscript into a book. The output is a print-ready interior PDF at your chosen trim size plus a clean EPUB, not a rewrite of your words and not a cover.

What we do

We build and maintain a pipeline that reads a manuscript's structure (chapters, scene breaks, emphasis) and typesets it with real book typography: correct trim size and gutter, running heads, drop caps, chapter openers and balanced pages. The output is checked against the geometry KDP enforces before you download it.

We deliberately stay narrow. Ceeryo sets the typography; it never rewrites your wording, story, or facts. Doing one thing well (typesetting text-led .docx manuscripts) is what lets us treat edge cases (unusual chapter headings, mixed scene-break styles, stray manual formatting) as first-class problems rather than rounding errors.

We also publish guides on book formatting: KDP's margin and gutter rules, how to choose a trim size, and how to prepare a manuscript for print and ebook editions.

Team

Ceeryo is organised into three small teams. Each guide, engine feature, or interior theme is owned by one of them.

Ceeryo Engineering

Typesetting engine & manuscript processing

The engineering team builds the pipeline that reads a manuscript's structure (chapters, scene breaks, italics) and typesets it as a print-ready interior: trim size, gutter, running heads, drop caps and chapter openers. Background in document automation and paged-media typography.

The editorial team writes the KDP-formatting and self-publishing guides on this site and maintains the glossary of book-design terms. Every published post is reviewed against a checklist: factual accuracy against primary sources (Amazon KDP's print specifications, established typographic practice), original analysis, and measured numbers from the typesetting engine rather than estimates.

Interior themes & typography

The design team creates the interior themes (Marlowe, Colette, Vantage) and the typographic rules behind them: type scale, page geometry, running heads, chapter openers, drop caps and scene-break ornaments. Background in editorial design and book typography.

Editorial standards

Every guide, comparison, and benchmark on this site is reviewed against the same four criteria before publication:

  1. Factually verifiable. Claims about file formats, KDP requirements, or competitor behaviour link to primary sources (Amazon KDP's print specifications, the OOXML spec, the competitor's own documentation).
  2. Original analysis. Comparison and benchmark posts contain numbers we measured ourselves, with the methodology disclosed inline.
  3. Honest about trade-offs. Comparison posts include a "where the alternative wins" section. Benchmark posts publish failure modes alongside successes.
  4. Updated when wrong. When a competitor ships a feature that changes a comparison, or a benchmark result no longer holds, the post is updated and the updatedAt date is bumped.
