Format Your Paperback Interior
The inside of the book, done to trade standards — so your paperback reads like it came from a publisher.
Readers can't name what makes a paperback interior feel professional, but they notice when it's wrong: text too close to the spine, chapters starting on the left page, headers on chapter openers, rivers of white in badly justified text. Ceeryo applies the trade conventions automatically — mirrored margins with a spine-side gutter, chapters opening recto with the running head suppressed, drop folios, widow and orphan control, hyphenated justification — because they're built into the themes, not left as settings.

How it works
How to format your paperback interior in four steps
The fastest way to format your paperback interior without manual copy-paste, screenshots, or formatting cleanup.
- Step 1
Upload your Word document
Drop in the messy .docx you want cleaned up. Your file is processed only to format it and is never used to train models.
- Step 2
AI reads the structure
The AI detects headings, body text, lists, and tables, and finds inconsistent styling, without changing any of your wording.
- Step 3
Formatting is fixed
Heading styles, alignment, spacing, fonts, lists, indentation, and margins are made consistent across the whole document.
- Step 4
Download the clean .docx
Get a still-editable Word file that opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and LibreOffice: clean formatting, your words unchanged.
In short
A professional paperback interior follows trade conventions: mirrored margins with a gutter that grows with page count, chapters opening on the right-hand page, no running head on opener pages, and controlled justification. Ceeryo applies all of them automatically from your Word manuscript.
Why do chapters start on the right-hand page?
It's the trade-publishing convention (a 'recto' opener): the right page is what the eye lands on when flipping through, so chapters open there, with the running head suppressed and often a drop folio. When the previous chapter ends on a right page, a blank left page is inserted — Ceeryo handles that, and keeps the blank page truly blank.
The details readers feel
Conventions, encoded
Every rule a trade compositor would apply is in the engine: opener pages without headers, blank versos kept clean, first paragraphs unindented after openers and scene breaks, folios that don't appear on front matter. You don't configure them; they're simply how the output is built.

Frequently asked questions
What's a gutter and why does it grow?+
The gutter is the extra inside margin swallowed by the binding. Thicker books curve more at the spine, so the required gutter grows with page count — from 0.375" under 150 pages to 0.875" near 828 on KDP. It's computed from your real page count here.
Do you handle front matter?+
A title page and copyright page are generated from your book's metadata, kept unnumbered, and the story starts on its own right-hand page.
Hardback too?+
The same interior PDF works for KDP hardcover at matching trims; case-laminate covers are a separate file (not an interior concern).
